KOOSH

Kaleidoscope Educational Day Nurseries and KOOSH (Kaleidoscope Out Of School Hours) Clubs have been offering quality, child centered care, education and recreation since 1991 and the group was incorporated into a limited company in March 2002.  We currently operate from eleven sites in Leeds and York and we are very pleased to have been chosen to provide Out of School care for the children of Lower Wortley Primary School from our premises based in the Community Room at Lower Wortley Primary School.

The club operates from 7.30am to 9.00am and from end of school to 6 pm term time and from 7.30 am to 6 pm during holidays and school training days.

The Mission Statement of Lower Wortley KOOSH club is:  “Through partnership, we care”.

We want to ensure that every child and all our staff fulfill their potential in a safe, secure, happy and stimulating environment.  We want to achieve this through consideration of the needs of every child, their family, their community and our environment.  We want to be an active part of the school community and  will support its policies.

Our aim is to ensure that every child matters and that we offer experiences that promote the five outcomes of being healthy, being safe, enjoying and achieving, making a positive contribution and experiencing economic well being.  This will enable children and young people in our care to develop a positive self-image and an understanding of their fellow beings, regardless of colour, creed, religion or gender.  We aim to foster in children, their families and our staff, a concern for the environment to ensure that it and its resources are still available for future generations.

KOOSH clubs are very much in the ownership of the children who help to formulate the club rules and help with planning ideas through the planning tree which children “post” their ideas onto.  Children help with choosing menus, help to make healthy snacks for tea and wash up in order for them to enjoy and achieve.  Children at KOOSH clubs feel safe and make friends with both peers and staff.  We try to encourage respect and concern for each other.

All children who start at KOOSH clubs have an “all about me” book to help them settle in. This is completed by children and their parents when they start at the club so we can get to know the child’s needs, likes and dislikes. This is especially important for children new to the school or to the club.  The children fill the book with pictures, poems and descriptions of their time at KOOSH club.

All our nurseries and KOOSH clubs are committed to a government approved, childcare quality assurance scheme and Kaleidoscope has had the Investors in People Award since 2000, so you can be sure that we will continue to offer the quality of care that we have become renowned for.  We hope you and your child will enjoy Lower Wortley KOOSH club and we look forward to meeting you.
